Working together

Project terms

The usual approach to quotes, deposits, revisions and cancellations. Your project agreement will set the exact scope and schedule.

Updated 3 October 2026

These are general website terms. A written quotation and agreement will confirm the deliverables, formats, platform, deadlines, revisions, milestones and any project-specific terms before you pay a deposit.

Before we begin

Website prices are starting prices in US dollars (USD). I review the manuscript or brief and provide a written quote. Work begins after we agree on the scope, sign the project agreement, receive the deposit and obtain the materials needed for the first stage.

Your materials

You provide the manuscript, brief and other materials needed for the agreed service, and confirm that you have the right to provide them. Depending on the project, I may ask for your genre, trim size, target publishing platform, cover details or trailer synopsis. If materials or feedback arrive later than agreed, we will update the schedule.

Delivery and revisions

The agreement identifies the files and formats you will receive. The Print + eBook formatting package starts at $299 for one agreed print interior PDF and one reflowable EPUB. It includes a review point and one round of layout revisions within the agreed scope. Editing, cover design, other print editions and publishing uploads are separate unless your quote includes them.

A new edition or substantial manuscript changes after layout approval may need a revised quote. Deliverables and revision allowances for other services are set out in their own quotes.

Payment

Projects under $500 begin with a 50% deposit. Projects of $500 or more begin with a 30% deposit and may have defined milestone payments. The invoice and agreement show when the remaining payments are due and how to pay. No payment is taken through this website.

Cancellations

If you cancel before work starts, I return the deposit except for any third-party costs you approved that have already been committed. If work has started, I account for the work completed and any approved, nonrecoverable third-party costs, then refund any unused prepaid balance. Completed agreed work and completed milestones remain payable, including where the project ends after delivery.

I will provide a clear account of the work and costs if a project is cancelled. Your signed agreement can give more specific milestone details, and applicable consumer rights still apply.

Your work and public samples

You retain ownership of your manuscript and original material. Rights to finished design or video files, and any third-party stock footage, music, fonts or other licensed assets, are set out in the project agreement. I display your work publicly as a sample only with your permission.

Publishing outcomes

I prepare the agreed files for the stated formats and perform the agreed checks. A publishing platform controls its own review and approval, and commercial sales results cannot be promised. If you find a problem in an agreed deliverable, send the platform message or a clear description so I can review it under the project agreement.
